I have looked at this before and used strips conveyor belting to hold plastic barrels on to my floating jetty

Ok we don't get your level of cold but it would still work.

I have also seen conveyor belting for the hinges where pontoons join and allow then to move up and down in tidal waters

Worn out conveyor belting can also be used if available locally

These guys local to you could help

I had 30ft of ex conveyor belt - used it for a model runway .... then we lost the field and that 30ft roll weighed nearly 1 ton ... it overloaded my trailer !! We couldn't get it up again from the field - so lost it ...

The belt I had is heavier form than you show - ours had steel wire in as well .... I can get more from the terminal guys - but price now is crazy and it would be very difficult to use ....

Worned out conveyor belting is a lot thinner

Too many people are now finding how useful it is so cost goes up

I have several pieces under my condo in Richards Bay to pull my dinghies up out of the water with a trailer winch at the top of the slope

Always try to repurpose equipment as I am half Scottish

Yes its the coal loaders and conveyors that has lots of worn out conveyor belting and also feeding the coal fired power stations from the inland coat mines to the inland power stations

Finally had the pontoon lifted - and truck stuck !!

Wife's not happy about the chewed up garden ... but that's life !

Now to remove the side boards .. get to the stapled broken straps and replace with something a bit better ...

I will also be adding 'outrigger' barrel each side at one end to stabilise ready for my mini excavator for channel maintenance.

Nice photos Nigel. They are appreciated. Lots of adventures for you in the back garden. More detail requested on the proposed Renault van with manipulator?
All quiet here. Little boat now home on trailer till September. Rain forecast today to break 7 month drought. ol'will

Today removed side boards of pontoon - T20 torq screws ...... allowing access to the stapled tape ends.

Bought 50m of wide safety strap to replace the 'parcel' strapping used. No idea if water will rot it ... will find out !!
The barrels are trapped in the frame when on the water - so straps actually don't take much load ... so fencing staples (I brought a large bucket over from UK as they don't have them here ... ) secures the straps.

All done .... now to sort out getting it back in the water ....

The extra outrigger barrels will be added after its in the water - avoiding their creating difficulty turning the pontoon over.

The Renault truck with HIAB crane looks like it will be a wonderful addition to the "tool box" Yes I am jealous. Best wishes ol'will

Its one of those - I wish I had it xxxxx ......

And likely only used occasionally ... but the events with the large truck lifting the pontoon - illustrated the advantage the smaller truck would have had ..

The damage to the ground getting that big truck out requires a truck load of soil to be delivered and then Bobcat to level ...

The 50 euro lift turned into a 150 euro event ... now another 220 euros for truck load of soil ... then Bobcat ....

Anyway - such is life !!

I built an A frame that I can attach to the front tow bar of my 4x4. using a 4x4 winch on the front tow bat to lift and/or to pull boat small mobo out of the water.

I also have a car trailer that I can fit goal posts with a beam that extends over the back end to lift items using a chain block.

I have also lifted my Perkins 4 236 engine in and out of my sail boat using a scalifiting tower and beams with a chain block on my own.

You may be able to position a scalifiting tower on each side of you mooting with a beam across the to lift the jetty in to the water

Decided against the Renault .... nice size of crane - but overall the truck wasn't so good ... it was obvious it had a hard life ...

But seller had a slightly smaller Opel Movano with a 1 ton HIAB ... so I bought that instead.

Put it work today moving pontoon frames - they are about 300kg each ...
