Hi all
I know this is only my second post, but I really need some help from the knowledgeable. I'm missing a marine manifold for a GM 6.2l V8 engine installed on my Sunseeker 23DC. Can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier in the UK? The one I do have is a Barr Marine manifold but if I have to buy a matching set, that would be equally as good.

Thank you all so much in advance

You could ask Pip at Marine Options, Cobbs Quay, Poole. He is ex Sunseeker and from my dealings with him it appears he knows pretty much everyone in the Sunseeker world, worth a try if you're stuck maybe.

You could try keyparts. When I last bought v8 manifolds, I shipped them in from the US.

Thank you so much for your replies.

I'll get in touch with the various suggestions to see if they can help. I believe the original engine was a Mercruiser, on account that the outdrive is Mercruiser - but someone replaced it with a GM/CHEVY 6.2L V8 Diesel. . .

Hopefully I can resolve this issue, otherwise I'll never get her back on the water!!

Thanks again for the help

Davey

Look to the car market as many of these engines were imported for that market as repower units for larger 4X4's and also vans, they often came from older or scrapped vehicles but many also came from generators, water pumps, and boats due to demand, it may be left of field but you may find someone with a marine variant who has converted it for use in a vehicle and has the marine variants lying around.

Oh, it's a V8 diesel. Didn't realise that. I would talk with Barr in the US. They will tell you what you need and also if there is anywhere in the UK that you can buy from.

There's a firm on the South Coast who are agents for GM diesels made by (I believe) a Swedish company but can't recall the name. By the way 6.2 and 6.5 manifolds are identical

Found it: Marine Diesel Sweden.

UK Agent:
MDS Marine Ltd
Hamble Point Marina, Workshop 7, Firefly Road
School Lane
Hamble Southampton
Phone: 02380 457 656 / 07712 645 551
Email: david@mdsmarine.co.uk

They should sort you out.
Cheers,
Peter

If diesel as against petrol. I would imagine it is either a Samurai conversion. Or a Marinediesel conversion.
In the absence of any labeling, the Samurai will look a bit of a lash up. The Marinediesel a proper marinised piece of kit. (and it will be painted black.) MDS for the Marinediesel. But not sure I hold out much hope for the other.

I would suggest that the origin of the conversion was important, as without a fair amount of modifying the installation the Marinediesel manifold is very unlikely to suit a Samurai one and visa versa.

Hi
These are found in true marine versions. More common in he Us and come N/A or turbo charged. Used in lots of GM trucks and I think more famously in the old Hummers and military vehicles.
Anyway, many use them to replace like for like the GM V8 petrol engines. All the patterns line up identically for a transplant. Perhaps unlikely but the petrol exhaust may be compatible. Worth looking up
Apart from that the other option is to call Swayer marine on the south coast. They specialise in specialist and performance parts for the GM marine engine. As far as I know they are the only ones that do so. They do performance fabricated stainless exhaust for the VP and mercury or any GM based engine, as far as I know.

A manifold is a manifold and as long as the bolts line up and there are no bits in the way it will fit!

Anyway, Superdavey now has two sources of parts so should be sorted.
Let us know the outcome SD!

Hi there.
Apologies for the delay in replying back, I've been away for the last couple of months on a work assignment in Estonia!!
I'm back at the boat tomorrow and promise to take some photos and post them to the forum.
I'll also get on to all the suggestions and comments and let you know how I get on. Fingers and toes crossed
