Has anyone mentioned the fact that you can spend a very interesting few days in Plymouth. The Tamar is really interesting as well.
Another place not mentioned but worth visiting is Polperro - moorings just outside the tiny harbour.
Place to miss is Looe - IMHO it's a dump.
If calling at Salcombe then a dinghy ride up to Kingsbridge, on the tide, gives you food at normal prices, leisure centre with pool, small cinema etc. Not full of "Hoorays" either.
