Looking out of the window at the moment you could be forgiven for thinking that the idea of planning ahead to the new season is a bit pointless - all the water seems to be in the atmosphere at the moment!
However on a positive note, I wondered who is making plans for some new adventures in 2016?
For me, I really hope to extend our boating a bit further afield this year, so some longer trips planned and more trailing to new locations is my aim. Would really like to get up the coast from Torbay to Lyme Regis, Westbay and ultimately around Portland to Weymouth. Regular run for many I know, but for our little Fletcher 150 it's going to mean picking a good weather window! I visit Portland regularly in the course of work, so always have a look at various sea states, winds, tides etc so hope by planning to avoid a need to turn tail after crossing Lyme Bay...
Further ahead, a friend and myself hope to cover all the SW Coast from Poole around to Bristol. Will likely take a season or two, but the aim is to achieve in one or two day stages - launching at port A, cruising to B and recovering, then relaunch where we finished at B on a later date and cruise to C, recovering and so on. No hurry for this adventure and will have to fit around work etc, but aim to start this year - exploring the various sections as we go.
So, has anyone else set themselves any challenges or aims for 2016?
