Re: Eh?
I agree with the above comments on the main, however recounting a story where an individual remains anonymous may benefit others from a lesson, to name and shame goes further than making a point it puts an individual in a position where they are frankly discredited without redress, I am one of the most un-p’c’ people around but I draw a line at identifying an individual by name and picture of his boat in the public domain, equally my comments regarding radio privacy are correct, funny stories and anecdotes can and should be recounted but the point on regulations is surely fundamental, if an account of a conversation goes into precise details where individuals are identified there is not only a breach of regulations but a lack of respect for the professionals involved.
I don’t use the radio much but I am a licensed operator and know that when I received my licence I was placed under an obligation to not repeat what I hear, and I respect that, however I am always ballsing it and getting in a muddle, I know what I would do if I found a record of a my conversation on a web forum and a picture of me and my boat, these pages remain accessible for years, I would seek redress in the Courts if my embarrassment was sufficient.
Now I think I will use the radio a lot less given the amount of people I see taking pictures of me in my boat!
Regards to all
