Pics of 1937 Launch Link

What a lovely boat.
Those shots off Sammy's Point on the Humber must be quite old as The Deep has been there for a while now.
That also seems to be the William McCann in the background. Or is it?

This is a long shot, but the lines of the hull, particularly the fore-part, are very reminiscent of the range of working boats built at hornbys yard in wallesey on the wirral, and designed by (i think) Arthur Comben.
That counter stern really is something!

Spot on , she was built at Hornby"s and she was built as a sanitation launch for Tyne Tees Harbour , I also have the original tender documents and Blueprint including the specs of each piece of timber .all I need now is a miracle
cheers

I see, So your only just starting the rebuild.
And a new house to finish!
Well good luck and keep us informed how you get on, there are loads on here that have been there already,
just ask if information is needed.

Hermees is a new boat compared to yours only 44yrs old.

Looks very much like the old work boats off the Mersey and Ship canal ?

Nothing a good clean, tin of paint and some varnish wont put right. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Will look a million dollars when done, as already stated some of us have been there already. Advice and encouragement will be needed so always ask!

Good luck
Tom

I dont personally have much information on Hornbies im afraid, ive just owned a couple of old hornby built gig boats, and know of a number of ex working boats built them now being used locally on the Mersey for pleasure or fishing.
Ive also spoken to a couple of old boatbuilders who worked at the yard when it was in operation.
I believe a lot of the records for the firm are now held by the public record office in Birkenhead, and are probably available for public viewing. The Merseyside Maritime museum have a couple of smaller hornby built vessels in store, and have always been very helpful when ive contacted them in the past on matters like this, so it could well be worthwhile giving them a call and seeing what info they have.

Cheers
for the information , I have also managed to find a guy in canada who worked there in 1937 so I have emaled him too.
