Picking up crew West of Cherbourg.

A very vague plan is taking shape here involving me and first born son taking the boat across the channel in July to be joined by SWMBO and daughter later. If we go to Cherbourg and stay there that's easy; but we are headed West to Dielette, Carteret, Etc. So if we see our chance and move on will the girls be able to catch up with us by public transport? Which are the best ports for them to get to easily?

Channel Islands?

Links to the Channel Islands are pretty good - Guernsey/Jersey are the best...flights and ferries etc all pretty close to you

There is a ferry from Cherbourg to Alderney - not sure on frequency.

I am pretty sure there is a bus to Dielette, but not frequent.

Why not talk to the Tourist Office in Cherbourg? They were very helpful when we were stuck there for 4 days in early May.

Granville is worth a thought - train station

The TRAIN!!! The train service is excellent in france. www.seat61.com is full of good information on how to do it.
