Hi,

My Volvo 115A (C. 1973) has recently had a copper pipe installed between the pump and carb. A 'mechanic' has told me that this is dangerous. The boat has a current BSS and there is a flexible between the engine and filter which is fixed the boat. Another guy has now installed a small metal bracket to support the middle of the copper pipe (in case it should flex) and has put a small piece of rubber inside it to stop it damaging the copper. He says this is now sufficient, and absolutely safe. Would you guys agree that this is okay?

Thanks very much.

Steven Aykroyd.

My twin Merc 7.4l have this set-up, without a support bracket, from new and 1300 hr later there has been no problem. Presumably your Cu piping is rigid.
I have had to replace the rubber hoses, however.
