Peoloponnese round trip

Well my intention was not to sail to Cyclades. Now we are at Porto Cheli and we are moving up towards Corinth canal.
I'll stop twice on the way there. Any good ideas?

South Pelponisos is nice, rough and that is what I like.

So maybe next year Cyclades and theh with Meltemi to Kythira... But that is somewhere in the future. Now I'll go ashore for a Mythos (despite today there are clouds and not hot at all...).

Look where the locals eat, not the yachties. The souvlaki/pitta place near the pontoon was packed out a couple of nights ago. We ate at one of the stern-to places, not very much food for the money. We also had lunch at the taverna right around the bay, that was very good and cheap.

Thanks.
We certanly won't go to "yachties" taverna.
It is empty at the moment (15:30) and when we went on shore for a coffee they were quite agressive with their flyers...

So I guess the taverna on the right (looking into the bay); NE side, on the other side of the yachites zone?

Btw: sea around here (we sailed today from Poros) is dirty and full of plastic bags. Bravo Greece!

There are markets on different street in the city on different days .

On Tuesdays (behind the old hospital)

Thursdays at Agias Sofias or Ellinos Stratiotou I think it rotates between the two
Fridays at Prosfigika
This is old info , has we not been there for some years but there are still market days

Thanks folks.
I found Carrefour three streets behind marina. Had no time to walk around Patras since we dedicded to head to Trizonia (on the way now:)

Regarding Korfos: yes, most of the tavernas on the waterfront are @#$%.
But one on the E side of the bay is great.

Sitting in Trizonia we had a few drops of rain this afternoon. It is cloudy and windy:( If somewhere in Grecee in the summer is rainy-it is Trizonia...

Steve,
Was the big turtle in residence when you were there? By far the biggest we have seen to date, it frequently swam under the boat and the resulting motion could be felt even when below. We were there for a couple of nights, during which it didn't seem to leave.
Vyv

Hello Vyv. I just tracked this post - was sure I remembered it from checking out the Peloponnese on the forum but didn't realise it was from 3 years ago.
We are in Monemvasia now , September 2015 and yes the big turtle seemed to greet us on arrival, and pops up every so often to say hello! He hasn't swum under the boat yet though. Fine looking old chap (presumed). And a good anchorage well dug in in 8m sand, better than Heikel leads you to believe.

Good to know that some wildlife does well. Thanks for the update.

So, here we go again:cool:
At the moment in Methoni, tomorrow Coroni.
There is an option that we will sail just to Elafonissos and then return via the same route.
Except Monevasia we find Eastern Peloponese not so interesting... And specialy crowded and dirty sea in Argolic gulf...

Anyway, welcome onboard for a beer- Alpha that is;)

We love the Argolic and Saronic Gulfs, loads to see, some beautiful anchorages, nowhere near as busy as the Ionian

Keep a close eye on the weather three depression tracks meet there so gales a are common. Sunsail opened a base there and closed it after six months, we chartered with them there and one of the crews told they were going to close it because crews couldn't handle it and were exhausted.

Yes it is windy down here but also without charter boats and people are more friendly than in the Ionian.
At the moment in Elafonissos, NE 17-22kts.
Beautiful.
