Patagonia

A fair bit further South than shown in that video, but in the local Spring of 1963 my ship took a deck cargo of steel pipes to Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego. Bloody freezing, howling place. When it wasn't blowing old boots it was thick mist, couldn't wait for next stop and some Aussie sunshine. ☺️

By coincidence this popped up in me YouTube feed as well. I have been following them for a while, but they don't often post. I would love to sail Patagonia.

If they speak Spanish on the other side of the Ria.....you can pretend to be in Patagonia
The problem as I see it the extension from the marina won’t reach so it’s cold sandwiches and a thermos on the trip ……it will feel like Patagonia 😂….they are socialists we have been told😳

……probably not going to get to sail round Cape Horn in my Dufour 24 I was taken by this video showing a different view of Patagonia
Dunno why not, this bloke had a Brasilian girlfriend with him when I took this shot at Isla Chair in Brazo Noroeste in April '18. She ran away a few days later, something to do with the cold and not quite what it looked like in the brochure. Caught up with him next in Mechuque - a few days south of Pto Montt in September . Between times - in the channels - we had seen one other yacht. Last I heard of him he was in eNZed.

That team's youtube vids are simply the very best out there, no bullshit, no 'look at me look at me', just pure quality.

The rock at the start and again at 0:50 is between Estero Cono and Cabo Raper, I call it 'the elephant', it even has an eye.
This bit of coast, Golfo de Penas and thereabouts, is hopefully my 'last big outing'. I've crossed Penas 8 times but have never really taken the time to go around the inside - following Captain Cheap's route and calling in at the anchorage used by Von Spee on his way from Coronel to the Falklands.

Re the pic, did I mention the kelp problem?
