Like always the trains are a mess. We want to go to London from Lancashire on thw 13th and come back on the 16th. Bit of business for Deb then boat show then another thingy on the 15th. Does London have a park and ride?? Car park near the M!? Underground to london?? Hate the place really, so normally avoid the place like the plaugue. Whats the method for visiting the god forsaken place!!

Haydn I fully agree with your sentiments!! that's why I moved away, Afraid there is no park and ride as such, you'll just have to pay youir money and choke!!! If it is any consolation it's cost me £80.00 in parking since Thursday!!! Oh and Ken ha' penny's worth!

Nearest you'll get to a park and ride is to head for an airport, dump the car there, and train or coach in. To be honest, Excel is quite easy to drive to, but then I drive in London regularly, so don't think much of it

Wouldn't take it to a garage in the smoke, far cheaper to pay the parking!!! Mind you loads of peeps parked at roadside leading to Excel no yellow lines, or anything so should be O.K I didn't see any Wardens or tickets around

Nah! you can park the car quite easily nearby. Unless that is, it's an AMG with huge spoiler on back, blacked out windows, flash alloys, and reg plate saying 'TCM's' in which case it will disappear in minutes. If that happens, just ask the Sealine or ybw staff where they've moved it to

There's nowhere you can leave a car safely in London for 3 days at reasonable cost. One possibility is that there is a park and ride near Luton (its signed off the M1) and take the train from there
I went to Manchester return from London a few weeks ago on one of Branson's wobbly trains with a weekend upgrade to First Class to get away from the riff raff and it was'nt bad at all. It even arrived on the same day that it departed which I thought was really excellent. Might be worth a try?

Haydn,
When we went down we stopped at a Travel Lodge thingy. Cant give you the exact location but it was opposite side of the river to that big tent jobbie that Blair had built. They had a car park and it was near the little remote railway. DLR??

thanks mikewilkes, but we decided to take the train, even though it takes 2.45 hours outward i.e mid week, and rtn on sunday 5.30 hours approximately depending on the train time uuuaahhh and final part is on a bus from crewe ! & its just bound to be even longer.

it got very complicated as we are doing a few things whilst down there, I stayed recently at the sunborn yacht, see others have done this also, agree its a great place to stay lovely boat and accomodation, and very very convenient for excel.

anyway BIG thanks for the help
