Re: Padstow Yacht aground - latest news

No doubt there will be an official investigation that will reveal all. This is a reasonable subject for debate...but I agree, based on facts, not hearsay. I still wonder why it didn't pop-up on the MCA website though? If there was an error of judgement on the part of the lifeboat coxwain, then so long as that is admitted...fine. The best trained people in the world can still make mistakes. As a boating community we need to keep an eye on this one, to ensure there is no attempt to suppress the story. Hopefully this won't be the case.

Re: Padstow Yacht aground - latest news

I know Geoff well, and think that if he says that the lifeboat caused his problems, then that is so. I have also heard from another member of PCC who was on the same Azores trip that Geoff was knocked into the water by a collision with the lifeboat.

I have looked at the Padstow lifeboat website, and it reads as if Geoff was quote " having trouble with his anchor" and "was already in the water when the lifeboat arrived" and they claim to have "saved one"......

I feel sorry for all concerned in this incident - not only Geoff, but the lifeboat crew as well.
