I have tried scanning my Imray chart of the Bristol Chaanel to use on my pocket Pc, but It looks a mess and very wonky.

Anybody have any tips? (or even better, a pre scanned copy!)

Yes, I am aware of that.

Until now I have been using Seaclear and have a good version of the Bristol Channel for that - but I now want to use OziExplorer as they have a pocket PC version. The thought of spending many hours re-scanning makes me dizzy.

I was originally very disappointed with the screen quality of scanned Imrays on my PDA using Ozi. The colours were very wishy-washy and resolution lousy.
I went back to the original scanned images and opened them in Microsoft Photo Editor which allowed improved colour definition and straightening.
Converted back to BMP image and created the ozf2 format images for export to the iPaq. I now have four images which cover all of my cruising areas (so far).

I use Ozi both on PC and IPAQ. I don't know Seaclear but have been able to make charts by capturing from PC software using a package called "snagit". Basically it allows you to make a bitmap file from any windows programme but rather than only capturing the screen, the snagit package operates the scrolling thus the whole chart gets into the bitmap file. From there, it's a matter of converting to jpg and into Ozi and then scaling it. Of course, because the whole process is digital, there is no problem with getting the chart off square as it were and hence calibration only requires a few points to be bang on (assuming you remember to adhere to the correct projection which I didn't to begin with!).

Hope this helps. (Google search for snagit).

Why rescan ..... ?? Use Mapcal to convert the Seaclear WCI to a bmp and then use Ozi-ex to make the Pocket PC version ....

or if you can't do that - bring up the chart on seaclear, do a screen capture of the chart at scale you want. It may mean that you do a series of screen captures to make the whole chart .... crop the menus / borders with photimpact orf similar ... even stitch back together with photoimpact if you want ....

nigel, of course. I didn't even think of using Mapcal to convert back to .bmp . All done now and the chart is more readable on the PDA than I thought possible.

Viscount, what did you 'snag' with 'snagit'? You must have a facilty to view charts in the first place - or have you found a resource of digi-charts you would like to share?
