My favourite even though we're not even sailing, a Bank Holiday Monday motor home in no breeze with the BBQ on!

My boat by me, shot from a motor boat hired for the shoot in Yachting Monthly.

The fact that few people have photos of their own boats was what led me into yachting photography. I used to photograph the boats taking part in Falmouth Week, and any other local events. Take the pics, get them into a local lab for 1 hour processing (it helped the lab was run by a mate), then display the photos on a board in the tent that night. Sell photos buy film and processing and so it went on.

A photo boat helps greatly with getting pics, but it's not essential. I've taken to a dinghy and tied it to a channel mark, stood on breakwaters, or used yachts as photo boats before. It's being in the right place at the right time, and being in a position to get the shot that's the difficult bit.

This was taken from a tender...

This one is an early test sail, first time playing with the asymmetric, and it was just a great day on the water. I'm lucky to have a couple of pro photographer buddies, and Toby Adamson came along for a sail and took some shots as well.

This one was obviously never my boat, but I did have a hand in building it, and it was the first new yacht I had built, so will always be pretty special. I was driving the RIB for Tom Gruitt to take some shots for a magazine article.
