There are over 400 forumites online and there've been no new posts or replies for a quite a few minutes now. Are you lot shy or something or just a little tired from a good day on the boat?

As Granny said before she was pushed off the bus "It's always good to look at the other side of the tracks so that you can appreciate what you've got".
Opps sorry /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif. Have to admit, I've just looked at Mobo and posted there. Seems they're upsetting each other and Kim is gonna throw his red card about.
just how long is a user considered to be online without doing anything before they are considered to have gone offline? the software can't know whether a user is still reading a thread or has turned elsewhere. the longer you assume them to be online the larger your viewing figures will appear. an inexact science like calculating magazine readership. (oops - no offence meant IPC).

After reading some of the replies handed out on here today, its hardly surprising that people and especially the newbies are wary of posting.........

I agree with you. There are a group of cantankerous posters on here who go out of their way to be bloody minded! Even when Kim posts a "cool it" message these same "oiks" behave like yobos in the classroom - when challenged, they sit there and say "Who me sir? No Sir what did I do?". I think they believe they're being funny!
I'm sure more people would contribute if it were not for the fact that "the select group" try and use every opportunity to belittle them. OK, so the same questions keep coming up, but that can't be helped it will ever be so.If you've seen it all before then move on! Banter is one thing and it's great fun, but there are those who just have to have a dig!
Anyway, no doubt there will be those that will have a go at me, - c'est la vie! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I think the interest level has gone down in recent postings. "When I was a lad" there was some chap called Stingo that set the forum alight by buying a AWB and declaring an intention to sail off into the sunset. Of course all the captain birdeyes on the forum that wouldn't dream of anything other than a 60's built long keeler to handle the conditions they know they are going to meet next week when they have finished discussing and planning sailing off into the sunset (so far 125 years in the planning-they want to get it right) quite rightly spluttered into their pints of real ale and choked on their pipes and told this lad Stingo in no uncertain terms how silly he was and that he needed a blue water boat design appreciation course. Its been boring on here ever since. Now whatever happened to that chap Stingo - did he learn the error of his ways?
I think it may be the same set of captain birdseyes that are so quick to belittle new posters on here that genuinely want to learn from the experience of others. Now how long do my warps need to be and what diameter for a 43'?
there were just as many raggies on the particular threads that caused the red card warning - they'd followed the 'discussion' over from PBO where much of it started.
I think you'll find that many of the anonymous users (especially when there are hundreds or them) are search engines spiders, which look in on big forums like this very frequently because the content changes so frequently compared to more static sites
