outdrive painting

having never had an outdrive previously, i wondsr whether the outdrive leg should be antifouled or painted. i have the boat out at the moment, so any advice would be most helpful

There's an article in this months MBM on the subject of outdrives, I'm pretty sure it also covers painting.

Should definitely be anti fouled, but make sure you get the right one for alloys.

Yes you can and should antifoul the outdrive leg. Might be wrong but can you but metal free antifoul.

Outdrives should be antifouled, buy the correct type or you can promote corrosion.

Outdrives should be antifouled but make sure you use the correct formula. Your local chandler will help. I intend to use International's Veridian this year a new concept in antifouling that they say should be good for a few years if applied correctly. It is quite expensive around £50 a pack but could work out cheaper in the long run.
Remember, don't paint the anodes. I know it sounds obvious but you would be amazed how many people do.
