I have just bought a second hand Archimedes penta 3.9 outboard motor,i do not have any information on the oil to petrol ratio.Can anyone help me out with this,and do i use leaded or unleaded petrol.

I think it is a good idea when purchasing a second hand item to get as much information as possible from the previous owner!
If this is not available and the seller does not appear to have any details I would walk away, sounds like buying a car without a log book to me but perhaps I'm over cautious.

Modern twostroke oils are nearly always 50/1 mix, If you can't get any info' err on the oily side and run it, you wont do any damage.

Would you call an archimedes penta a modern outboard?
I have been running an older evinrude on 40:1 for some years and have had no problems .
