there is a brand new 2.5 posiedon outboard advertised on e-bay for a very good price and i wonder if anyone has or used one. if so any good or reflective of price

Never heard of them!
Will you still be able to get spares for it in 20years time? I think I'd stick to one of the well known makes.

I spotted that one too, but decided to steer clear as I'd never heard of them. Better to stick to my good old Seagull. It's older than me, and will probably outlast me to boot!

Re: Posiedon OBs

More likely a Tohatsu copy designed for the home market, like those Kipor gennys.

Half the price, and 5% of the lifespan. I would buy a used Hon/Merc/Tohat/Yamazuki over one of those any day.

Chinese stuff is pants. Scooters, gennys, you namje it.

Apart from the food, of course.... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I also investigated this some months ago and the 'seller' couldn't answer any of my queries, like spares availability, agents in the UK etc. and wouldn't let me see one before bidding, even though I was only a few miles away, or let me collect and avoid carriage costs if I successfully bid for it. So I didn't buy. Ask a local outboard dealer about them. The other thing is wether these are 'legal' in that small 2 strokes are banned as from Jan 07 ? unless already imported - he got upset when I queried this!
