Every time I offer to get a man in to do the job, Mr Shan scowls at me. What am I doing wrong?
When younger, I would have offered to do all manner of household DIY jobs, and did do some fairly major projects like tiling a bathroom and fitting a power shower, laying laminate flooring and even ceramic floor tiles in a bathroom. But with advancing age I feel less inclined to volunteer for such things, and the right tool is often a locally recommended tradesperson!

However, sadly I only have myself to please at present. Very happy to change that situation, but nothing in the offing!

It always used to amuse me that so very few people employed to build yachts would ever go out of the harbour in one…

Why should a pool installer ever envisage making things reliable accessible replaceable or inspectable?

We’ve had your money now sally forth and best of luck mate

You can get an above ground pool.....but anytime you bury your pool you bury your problems

Above ground pools are an eyesore, someone recently posted a picture of one. Generally speaking the tubes are OK it's when they are disturbed by an external event that the problems start. I am not a great fan of them and outside a country where the heat makes them a pleasant way to cool down I wouldn't countenance one, the idea of having one that you either heat or gets up past 28°C is horrific as there is no cooling benefit only a bloody great bill for the gas.
Some pool installers do finish them off by tilling but their cost for that is more than getting the job done by someone else the basic pool is expensive enough. Ours had a pebble surround for many years until we decided it was a pain in the arse so had it tiled my only regret is that I didn't think about the pipes and relied on the builder doing the excavation and concrete to do the job clearly whilst there was no sign of interacting with the pipes something has been disturbed, plastic pipes are very rigid and brittle.
