Any members on here, or ex-members? Looking at new places to potentially keep the boat. Any views on this club would be good to hear.

I think this huge response from a club with many hundreds of members says it all. I would sum Orwell Yacht Club up as
"Visiting Yachtsman NOT welcome" I was a member back in the 90s but it all changed.

Perhaps it's only you that's not welcome ?

I've been in there for work and always felt welcome.

Hi Adam - PM received with thanks. For the time being I’m going to wait and see what happens down at Debbages. I’m not overly optimistic but, well, you never know.

The Orwell Yacht Club members I have met were very welcoming.

I have never been a member of the Orwell Yacht Club, but first visited there in the mid 1960's, last visited in 2024, and only a few times in between I have never felt unwelcome on any of my visits, I do make a point of asking for the visitors' book to sign in when visiting yacht clubs to help them comply with their by laws.

Not really sure what you are saying there, it’s my belief that the only place visiting yachtsman are not welcome is the tiring up
On the pitchfork pontoon closest to the clubhouse. Seems sensible to me Shanemax as there are only 2 spots , 1 with very limited water, that club members are only allowed 20 mins on as is in pretty much constant use at weekends. Weekdays much less though.
Of course visiting yachtsmen are welcome when the clubhouse is open

Waffle... Not been for nearly 40 years. It was my first experience of sailing and YCs. Happy memories. Back then there were quite a lot of options for mooring bouys/piles in the estuary.
