Dvinell,
I have just bought a S24 and it came with a full canopy (camper?) I notice on your boat you have a simple cover which looks ideal for the marina. Is it a standard sealine product or have you had it made?

I specified it as an extra when I ordered the boat. It's handy for the winter storms, and when you don't have the time to put up the full canvas. You can get one made up fairly easily, the previous one was made by J B Yacht services, sorry, can't remember contact details...

The main diff you will notice is the feeling of solidity compared with USA boats generally. As for the loss of speed, it wont matter anyway if you have a baby on board. Looks a nice model. Hope you get it.

Ideal for young family,

lots of space & storage aboard, the midship berth will be ideal for your nipper to sleep while you can enjoy the rest of the boat.
Berth may look cramped but it is very deceptive, we never find it claustraphobic.
Not tried the "V" berth so unable to comment here.

Ours has auto tabs which make handleing a dream, not encountered any slamming as in previous post but have yet to push it hard enough.

Easy cruise @ 22kts & very sociable when friends aboard.

2 piece cannopy a pain to errect from the cockpit but this is the only thing on a well thought out cruiser.

Looks a well cared for example & the paperwork will undoubtably back this up.

Good luck.

Yip,
Anchor Windlass, and a remote spotlight!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

We anchor overnight from time to time, so its 2 things that will come in very handy!!

Roy,
The remote spotlight will be handy for spoting those Wallabies!!! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Cheers All,

The boat should be ours by next weekend.

Alistair.

Unless they have done some major changes to auto Eltrim tabs.
You set them them manually to your choice, the unit then operates the tabs to reduce roll by increasing tabs one side and reducing tabs the other. Bow up or down is set by you, to suit, and is not auto.
To go auto you just change the helm control unit.

Yes Brian is correct,
you have manual or auto selection on the tab control unit.

The bow up/bow down is set by you & the auto tabs take care of the roll.
of course you can still use the tabs manually but the auto option takes the hassle out of constant trimming.

I would think a headunit change to the standard eltrim tab control unit would be all that is required but i'm not sure.

Hi,

I've owned my S24 since new in 1999 and been very pleased with it. My main cruising ground is the Solent to Dorset area and is a very capable boat. The S24 is not a sports boat more a cruiser, I generally cruise at 18-20knots and the hull seems best at that speed with a max of 29knots.

You do need trim tabs as the s24 is a little twichy and once you've mastered you have a stable ride.

I have been out in conditions where the boat disappears between waves and has proved to be very stable even when you do get the odd green water to the window screen - although my heart was racing! therefore I would say a very stable and capable boat in a F6 possible F7 although not recommended.

We stay on her quite often in the weekends and have not experience any problems and that includes winter boating. The batteries were replaced in the last year with Elecsol (carbon fibre batteries) very effienct, more amps and less weight saved about 12kg. I have also set-up a solar panel to keep the dosmetic battery topped up.

My engine is a diesel 150hp and to date been very reliable with over 300 hours.

If you have any specfic questions please send me an email, happy to answer any questions.

RM.
