I have recently installed OpenCPN. For my kind of sailing I need detailed tide and current information for ALL UK tide stations and ALL UK tidal diamonds. Whoever I ask about whether this is available I seem to get a "Mmmm yes (ish)" answer. Really I'm only interested in this as a navigation system if the answer is "Yes you can display all of that information on your screen based on the definitive UKHO data". I'm not interested in a solution that says "You can get a fairly good data from X", or that "data for MOST areas are available".

I am extremely impressed by the OpenCPN software and the ethos surrounding its availability, and will be sad if what I ask cannot be achieved. Also, if the only way is to pay a (sensible) amount of money for the definitive tidal data, I am likely to fork out.

Is what I'm seeking available? I guessing that, if there was a scheme under which these data could be licensed and displayed, "Visit my Harbour" would point to it, so I have a fear that my request is not going to be fulfilled.

Any expert able to help?

Pretty sure the UKHO data you are after isn't available for OpenCPN.

Looks like you might have to buy a book,

Must be a very big trip you're planning.

Edit:there may be a ray of hope though. Opencpn are developing a plug in which will allow s63 ecdis charts to be purchased and displayed, these could well have the data you want embedded. Which charts do you use at present?

On the contrary, my trips are small and intricate. When I stress "all", I mean all the detail up all the fiddly bits up estuaries etc. East coast sailing with with a severe lack of water and strong currents. I do sail on other boats in other parts of the UK, but that's not crucial. I have have bought tidal info that claims to be UK comprehensive and actually just gives up on the twiddly bits.

I have an almanac and can work out tides by hand.

I have been a user of Maptech Offshore Navigator, with the ability to see tidal arrows for all diamonds and run forward in time for planning of multi-estuary trips. Also all tide stations with the tide graph makes anchoring a doddle.

OSN's weakness is that it can't do AIS. After a Dover departure in the fog in the dark my NASA AIS "Radar" feels a bit inadequate.

S63 on the way, just edited previous post.
There was a set of data which did the channel and North coast of France tidal currents, but it seems to have Ben deleted from the download page, not sure where the data came from but I might have a copy somewhere I could email.

I have a UK Chartstick from "Visit my Harbour". There are some extremely scant tidal data with it.

Being a bit of a data freak - it is my job you know - I can't be doing with data unless I know their provenance. It pleases me with OSN that I have data equivalent to the almanac, and I know they are complete.
