I currently use Navionics on my tablet for navigation.

However, IMHO Navionics has gone downhill since they were taken over by Garmin.

I previously used Open CPN on my laptop (many, many years ago) so since there's now also an app I thought I'd give it a go.

But I do seem to find it hard to find recent charts.

Where/how to find them?

TIA

I just loaded OpenCPN on my Android tablet and I cannot find out how to download my o-charts purchase. I've followed the instructions but it doesn't recognise the o-charts shop URL.

You get charts from o-charts
Yep. I have Mediterranean France and Spanish charts for the western Med regularly updated for free during the first year of validity. O-charts was specifically set up and run by the OpenCPN development team to provide up-to-date and legitimate charts based on the various hydrographic organisations.

Contact o-charts directly via their website as they have a reputation for being very helpful!

I am using the paid version. I've worked it out now. UK charts installed. I'm finding the interface bit clunky compared to Navionics.
Yep, the interface on the Android version is horrific, but it mostly works well. The worst bits are the menus and the dashboard options.

First to check:
Is your Android OpenCPN app the official (and paid) Dave Register version (and uptodate)? MUST be this to work with o-charts!

(The old free version by Maison Automatique is hopelessly out of date.)

Second: make sure you have the latest "o-charts" plugin (NOT the old "oesenc" plugin).

How to download: settings, charts, o-charts... will take you to o-charts website to purchase charts.
