Dear Kim,
In any event that this genuine appeal attracts negative and largely unhelpful response, we would be very grateful if you would act only upon those responses. To remove our appeal for help aswell, would seem to be unfair to say the least.
Thankyou.
This request is again respecfully made in good faith to the YBW.COM Community Forum. Please help us in our crises.
We URGENTLY seek a place to berth our HOUSEBOAT, M.V.PICTON, presently laying at Crest Nicholson Marinas Limited Penarth Marina, Wales, United Kingdom.
The Vessel Details.
M.V. Picton
Built Circa 1964
Builders J.N. Millers & Son, St Monans, Fife, Scotland.
Approx. 55 Feet Length Overall
Beam 17.05 Feet
Draught 6.05
Approx. Weight 33-40 Tonnes
Hull Construction. Two inch Larch, on four by four inch, English Oak Frames
To avoid any possibility of mis-communication, this request is to the point. It is truthful and consequently the following details are submitted, also in good faith.
The vessel has developed a water - ingress, post grounding and toppling accident, at the above Penarth Marina. Consequently, the vessel has been unable to attract favourable insurance cover. It is not likely to do so until such time as the vessel may be slipped or lifted clear of the water. In any event it would need a full out of water survey before attracting such insurance cover. It is not yet established as to what extent the vessel has been damaged, or how the vessel may fair under passage. It is not yet established that the vessel may be lifted or slipped before travelling. In this sense, it must be responsibly considered, that the vessel may deteriorate in travel. The vessel would have no alternative but to arrive under towage, (subject to further insurance approval) as it has no engine nor other means of propulsion.
The Housboat M.V. Picton is a Family Home for Seven People, two adults and five children. Four of the children presently require both primary and secondary education facilities.
This is a genuine request for YBW.COM community help and all replies will be given full consideration. For any further enquiries, please respond at the earliest convenience to the Co-Owners, by any of the following means:
