Re: One of those "Why do?" questions

Oh dear! What's Loch Melfort done? Or did you get the bill from one that can't count?! (For that matter, are not all boatyards mathematically challenged? P'raps offer some night school tuition........!)

No idea about the reasons, but that's definitely the rule.
And don't even think of fooling this rule doubling your thought from the beginning.
You'll find out that also the "doubled" thought will be doubled again !!!

Well it certainly can't be the professional, detailed, everything done on time, high quality workmanship that causes it, can it? So it must be down to the leg lifting & mug syndrome. I'm sure it needs no explanation.

Not far from the truth there Mr Macphail, think I must have bought part of the shed or a pontoon or something, unless its my lifetime mooring fee.

Re: No need foor school tuition

There really is no need for school tuition. Just let's teach them to use their fork to eat with. They now seem to think they are ment to write with!

But seriously now. Of course, here in the Netherlands we do hear similar comments. But we have been lucky in finding a yard where the bill is always slightly less than we calculated. And the quality of work is excellent. We do notice more and more British yachts that have their annual maintenance done here. It is certainly worthwile considering, especially where the Euro is still low and the GBP is high. The English east coast has excellent connections. But make sure you first find the right yard that would not overcharge you, or all goes down the drain again...

Meanwhile, do take your boats abroad for summer cruises. The amount you save will give you an ample budget for any maintenance you wish to have done in Britain.

Does he normally rape & pillage wee horny hatted beasties? Thought that was the privilege of the welsh rather than the repressed Sassenach masquerading as a Northern raider.
