In NE Italy, you can see the pretty cheap Glera grapes used for Prosecco just about anywhere.
In fact, I recently learned that it became #1 wine (volumewise, obviously) worldwide - go figure.
Down in S Sardinia, we prefer to go for our own selections, so to speak.
As an example, just google for Solais, a champenois made by Santadi, the best wineyard of S Sardinia.
