One for The MED guys

Remind me, can you still get Prosecco in Italy or has it all been exported to the UK?
'Course you can.
In NE Italy, you can see the pretty cheap Glera grapes used for Prosecco just about anywhere.
In fact, I recently learned that it became #1 wine (volumewise, obviously) worldwide - go figure.

Down in S Sardinia, we prefer to go for our own selections, so to speak.
As an example, just google for Solais, a champenois made by Santadi, the best wineyard of S Sardinia.

Aha, I missed that.
Out of curiosity, were you refunded, or (as I would tend to guess) you should have gone through legal hassles which were just not worth the time and effort, so eventually they kept what they fetched regardless of EU ruling?

You guessed right. I did not want the cost and hassle of going through the courts to reclaim what was not a life changing amount of money. I bailed my boat out of Majorca after I paid the tax because rumours began to swirl that the tax authorities were about to hit owners who had paid the tax with additional interest and fines on top of the tax paid and that was just too much for me. What gets me is that this type of thing is normally all so stupid and self defeating. The amount of tax I paid was somewhat less than the amount of money I was putting into the Spanish economy every year by keeping my boat there. I probably would have stayed in Majorca for a few more years if the matriculation tax thing hadnt happened so the Spanish economy has lost far more money out of me than it gained through the tax. How true.
The old comparison with diapers, which also must be changed often and for the very same reason, wouldn't be as funny as it is, if it weren't so well reflected in real life!
