Has anyone else noticed that this year they have had more non-boaty visitors than ever before? Is it because the sun has been shining and so everyone has headed to the water?

Normally we have 4/5 sets of Visitors in an entire season. We invite loads but we know they won't show so do not worry. Then this year we have been packed. In the last 3 weekends we have had 5 sets of Visitors and it has been hectic. The most worrying thing is that because the weather has been good they think it is always like that and are coming up again!

Shouldn't complain though, as when they find out the cost of running twin Petrols they have been taking us out for nice meals to say thanks. Anyone else noted this phenomenon?

I'm very lucky to live 310 miles from the boat. So only very special folk get asked. But none boaty folk can be a complete pain, dont help and get sick or ill all the time. Worst still are panick attacks. I've seen a few of them. Once had a woman jumping about on a small fibre glass dingy in hysterics. I had to sit on her!!

Same here - with all the good weather have been booked up almost solidly over the last 11 weeks - and they have all shown up!

As soon as I mention the running cost - they do cough up for a bloody good lunch AND evening meal (my hints are working as refuse for them to pay for fuel). /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Same here - every trip bar one had visitors - usually No 1's boyfriend (he's v useful on board)
and that one occasion was when we met up with Col, Duncan, Barry and Geoffs at Swanage.
Even PeteM and family came out (once) and survived /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Hi Paul

Yes we have had the visitors but NOT ONE of them offered any contribution to anything (petrol / fuel / drinks) etc. Obviously my hints about the cost of petrol were too subtle, I think I will post daily charter rates next year!!

I hope my "visitors" at the weekend left me a stash of cash somewhere!!!!

See you soon

When we have guests we hardly know, we first go to the petrol pumps (usually use two - one for each tank) and fill up. This impresses them enough to buy a nice meal or two!!
