Old wood keel

Have bought a small fibreglass boat and the keel looks as though it has not seen oil or varnish for 10 years - bare wood really. What does anybody recommend to treat it with before going back in the water

Clear Cuprinol, lots of.

Then whatever varnish, paint or epoxy system you like. Whatever finish you chose will wear through eventually.

For a long lasting finish, use International Perfection 2-pack paints, or for ease of preperation and touching up use an enamel paint system (eg brightside).
