Old style stanchion(s) required please

Hi everyone, I need one or two stanchions for my mega ship - It's an Invader 22

The stanchions are 1" ss and have a plastic dome shaped top ( if you have one knocking about please give me a thought)
One of my plastic tops has got broken and the loose hanging wire has become a trip hazard. I'll try to upload a picture:









Hopefully you can see what they look like, the last picture is what it should be when not broken...

I had the same thing happen on the spreader end of a small Hurley, and replaced it with a carved bit of wood..it's still up there as far as I know..

I'm fairly sure there was a thread here not long ago where someone said he had found a source of these end-fittings.

More than 20 years ago I made new ones from 1" brass bar but you need a lathe, of course.

Some years ago I found some at the Chandlery barge at Burlesdon. Probably ten years back though.

You could perhaps easily make one out of a setting putty like Milliput (sets hard, and available in white) or Sugru (sets rubber-like).

It's easily obtainable from eBay or other online suppliers but there are a few model shops in the Gosport area that might stock it.
