I've just acquired twin burner Origo stove, I've no idea how old it is, The burner control is a slide as apposed to the newer model knob type.

the burners themselves are also different from the newer model being that there is no gauze to pour the fuel through and it would appear i have to hold the burner vertical to fill it is this correct?

Also how long does the fuel last in the burner? i don't want to overfill it as I'm guessing the fuel will evaporate.

That's the same as mine. There should be a hole through the middle, the damper closes the air inlet at the bottom.

If you turn the can over and look in the bottom there should be a metal tube through the wadding set at about 45° to take a little funnel or to just pour into if you prefer. About the angle you have the can in your pic is about right.

I use an old Fairy bottle to fill mine. The two cans take about 750ml between them before they overflow. Putting a good bit in one can and leaving it so that the wadding you have just flooded gets chance to drain into the dry stuff while you do the same with the other can lets you get more in. I don't usually bother if it's just for a weekend, a normal fill lasts.

Edit, I normaly put in enough for each visit, it will keep from one w/e to the next but some does escape. Waiting for a can to cool to fill it when the kettle is half boiled is a pain so I always fill up when we get there.

The newer models are very similar. The control knob just closes a slider on the top of the burner. The best way to fill is hold the canister at 45 degrees and fill until it starts to overflow. The newer models have a small rubber mat that you use to cover the burner to reduce evaporation if you're not going to use it for a while.
They are very simple and nothing much to go wrong. Get a long thin gas lighter and push it right into the hole to get it lit.

Yep. We don't have 240V or a calorifier so that's kettles for washing up too. Sometimes I may not try too hard to fill up either, stop the first time it has a little wee and it still lasts.
If I forget to fill when we get there Friday evening it may keep going all Saturday or even weekend but sods law dictates it'll run out at the most inconvenient time so I generally do fill it.

We used 2 x 5l (£15) bottles last year IIRC, just taken a new one to the boat.

When I got mine I didn't realise about the cover / gasket. So, used 500ml every weekend with assoiciated meths smells around the boat. Realised (thanks to somone on the forum, sorry forgot who) and 500ml last about 4 weekends now. Oh and no meths smells either.

I am sure there must be somewhere you could get a replacement canisters and covers, but I dont know where.
