If the audible alarm does not work it is a problem in as much as you won't have any warning of an ( unlikely) loss of oil pressure unless you are constantly watching the pressure gauge.

The alarm test stage of the engine start procedure tests the functionality of the alarm buzzer. If the buzzer does not sound either it is faulty or there is a problem in the electronic module.

When the key switch is first turned to the running position ( or the "power on" button pressed on a keyless panel ) the oil pressure light should come on ( together with the coolant high temperature warning light and the alternator not charging light)
If the warning light does not come on there may be a bad connection in the wiring or the sensor may be faulty.

Disconnect and test the sensor for zero resistance when the engine is not running. Dont confuse the sensor with the temperature gauge sender. It should be possible to identify it by the white with blue tracer wiring attached to it.

The wiring can be tested by shorting the white/ blue wiring to the engine block if the electrical system is non isolated or the the negative connection if the engine has an isolated electrical system. If the panel power is on, or the key is in the running position, the waring light should illuminate. If this is done with the engine running the alarm buzzer should also sound.
