Weather bad?? Trailor broke, engine wouldn't start, you lucky b*******S!! you just don't know how lucky you are!! you could have spent 2 days, 500 miles, travelling, lousy service at Hotel , and restuarant, no sleep, because airoplanes, and heating system roaring all night, and, and,to top it all, the flipping!! water!!!!!!!! how do you all cope ? every thing tasted of chlorine, and the coffee was CRAP! couldn't even get a lather to shave!!! happy 1 how many water filters you got ??? or can i start a business, supplying decent drinking water from Wales to the Thames and Medway??? Glad to be home, albeit boatless, visited 7 marinas /24 boats and we pick a hybrid!! sports type cruiser out the window, so we have gone full circle as we looked at a Birchwood months ago, nice boat very well equiped, but has been fitted with a Bedford straight 6 injected turbo diesel on an enfield leg? UUUUUUUUmm not standard??, so if you wouldn't mind, please finish the weekend off, and give me an opinion of the engine set up.??,

Re: no....

the good bit -
took a fellow forumite out fishing from Poole, following on from some pms regarding what and where and how.

wonderfull day, boat ran faultlessly and even the 2m+ standing waves through Peveril Ledge didn't dampen our spirits.

the run back in was fun with the odd 'sportscruiser' taking flying lessons for our amusement

clear roads for the run back Saturday evening

and to cap it all I got a call yesterday evening from teh third memeber of the group to say that our haul of rays, conger, smoothound, dogs and pout was significnatly more than others had managed that day!

the bad bit -
put the fixed VHF back into the boat after the last coupel of months in a nice cosy enviroment and it refused to 'come alive'

Definitely a good weekend /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

A little bit more salt

Pleased to confirm that fishing was as good as Duncan said it was, with two thornbacks at over 14.5lb. To cap it all we will be eating part of one of them this evening with a Beurre blanc sauce.

Duncan also did not exagerate about the standing wave at Peveril, I reckon it was closer to +3m than +2m. All part of the fun though.

Re: A little bit more salt

mind you don't choke on the bones!!! did you skin them straight away? and leave them to rest in the fridge in saltwater solution for 24hrs, to remove all the slimy gunk that they produce?

i think i'll book meself a charter for the weekend, and catch some proper ones not the tiddlers you caught!!!!

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear, I really am getting it all wrong!

Saturday had a good dive with 2 lobsters, a crab and a few scallops, no other boats in sight (mebbe they'd all broken down /forums/images/icons/wink.gif), a few beers on the way back, glorious sunshine.

Saturday evening met up with HLB for more beers in the Borringdon Arms, one of the best pubs in Devon.

Sunday was a bit of a let down, rain almost all day, but super lunch consisting of previous days catch on board Muckyfarter, what could be better.

So all in all a great weekend! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif /forums/images/icons/smile.gif /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Re: A little bit more salt

rays and skate do not excrete urine in the normal way they excrete it through the skin so if you haven't let it rest and soak you'll be chasing it around the plate and it will taste decidedly disgusting SERVES YOU RIGHT !!! taking the P88s out of my predicament, and i was going to offer to take you out to my favourite Bass mark in the summer!! and no i won't pm the numbers

Hi, ive got the biggest engine you can use (torque wise) for a standard Enfield leg,it,s a ford 2.5 naturaly aspirated diesel. However Enfield do/did make a heavy duty leg, which may mean the setup,s ok.
Give Bob Knowles a ring at Leicester as he bought the manufacturing rights for Enfield legs, and still makes them..sorry don,t have number handy ,but has website.
ps my fishing was painting the topsides of the project....pretty s***
