Ocean Village in Storm Eunice

I agree with DAKA.

Since the tall buildings have been here the wind accelerates through the gaps.

As someone Just said to me. In these storm conditions it might be better to let your canopy or anything else blow away rather than Risk yourself trying to stop it...... Difficult call

Yep just had a big gust, but I would bet that the needles wind station always over reads because it’s on top of the cliff , hurst wind monitoring is more reliable IMHO7C4EB2A3-4C72-4F6D-9F69-A5E3F2D1DAAC.jpeg

Looks like a riveting read. ?
Hi Switch,
I didn’t bother to read it to be honest as I already understand “headland amplification “, as will anyone who regularly sails around headlands either understands the concept or at least realise the wind gets stronger.
i Went to the trouble to put a link in for the armchair commodores and for those who don’t venture outside the Solent

Good for you DAKA. I bet your 'headland amplification' knowledge is a big hit at parties

It’s a long time since I went to ocean village but I recall correctly the buildings would create wind amplification including violent vortexes highly likely ( wind is forced to go twice the distance as it twists up similar to a tornado)
i wouldn’t expect the buildings to offer shelter in the basin, I would expect the opposite.

good luck .
Well I thought that was interesting, even if I mostly just looked at the pictures. Airflow over flat roofs particularly, showing how they get sucked off, not blown off
