Can anyone recommend a nice quiet o/night anchorage in Poole Harbour? We are 34' and draw 1mtr. Round the back of one of the islands looks nice from the chart.
Pottery pier, South deep and blood alley lake on the south and west side of Brownsea offer good holding ground, use the wych channel to get to pottery pier (deepest water close in nearest the pier) Don't forget to visit Brownsea and spot the red squirels wilst you are there.

Amnything other than West / NW then I would go up into the pool at Round Island - especially good on neaps. You can tender onto the beach/spit at Long Island.
W/NW the area between Furzy and Brownsea, just NW of the jetty on Furzy - anchor in out of the channel according to tides.
Both these are protected from wakes (technically!) as well as wind.
NE then Blood Alley (anchor in the deeper area just N of Channel) - further up between Brownsea and Furzy but using Brownsea for shelter - can get wakes down from the entrance a bit.
SE then of Pottery pier but main channel wakes will affect.
You also have the option to go round the channel off Goathorn Point and find the best position for prevailing conditions - lots of wondefull spots round there and access all states of tide. Many visiting craft (and even Poole based ones too) never venture round there!
