1. THAMES ESTUARY - CANCELLATION OF NTM L04-23 - Mariners are informed that Notice to Mariners L04-23 (East Margate Buoy damaged and unlit) is hereby cancelled. (i.e. repaired!)

2. RIVER THAMES - ERITH REACH - COLDHARBOUR JETTY WORKS - contractors instructed by the operators of Coldharbour Jetty will be carrying out works to the jetty. These works will involve heavy lifting operations and operatives working on the waterline, amongst other activities. The works are expected to commence on or about 20th February 2023, and to continue for approximately 4 weeks. In the interests of safety, it may be necessary, at certain times, for vessels to proceed with caution or to pass at slow speed when navigating in the vicinity of the these works, in order to reduce the effects of vessel wash and draw off. The chartlet shows the location of the works, indicated by the red rectangle - see: Notices to Mariners - Local List. Requests for vessels to proceed with caution or to pass at slow speed will be made by London VTS on VHF channel 14, in accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, section 4. During times where this is applicable, international signals flags ROMEO YANKEE will be displayed on or near the works where they will be visible to vessels.

3. Harwich Harbour - Dredging Operations – Sospan Dau - on or about the 28th February 2023 the trailing suction hopper dredger Sospan Dau (IMO: 7711062) will commence maintenance dredging in the harbour, for a period of approximately 3 days. Materials will be disposed to the beneficial sites in the River Stour and River Orwell. Detailed dredger movements can be obtained from Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71. Lights and shapes as required by Collision Regulations will be exhibited and a listening watch on VHF Channel 71 will be maintained throughout.

4. Harwich Harbour - Seasonal Recreational Mark - On or after the 1st March 2023 the following seasonal recreational mark will be reinstated: Harwich Shelf East Cardinal Buoy - 51°56’.84N 001°18’.07E

5. Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project: Temporary buoy moves – Update 5 - On or around 11/02/2023 the Harwich Approach (HA) buoy will be moved from its temporary position back onto its assigned position. On the same day, the Walker Buoy will be moved to a temporary position, outside the channel limits, approximately 60m to the east of the channel toe-line and 70m to the east of its assigned position.
Table A below shows the buoy which is to be relocated to its previously assigned positions: Table B below shows the buoy which is to be moved to its temporary positions: Table C below shows a summary of all the buoys which (following this move) will be in temporary positions, approximately 50 – 60m outside the channel toe lines.

The buoys in table C will be moved back to their designated positions once the dredging is
completed.
A separate Notice to Mariners will be issued when the buoys are relocated.
For detailed information regarding this operation, please contact Harwich VTS (VHF 71) or
listen to the daily Channel Deepening VHF broadcasts (VHF 11).

6. Harwich Harbour - Dredging Operations: Maverick - From or around 13th February 2023 until 15th March 2023 the water injection dredger Maverick will be carrying out maintenance dredging operations in the Harwich Haven areas listed below.
• Ha’penny Pier
• Harbour Master’s Pier
• Fishermen’s moorings
• Harwich and Dovercourt Yacht Club Entrance
• Shotley Channel
• Mistley Channel
Detailed dredger movements can be obtained from Harwich VTS on VHF Channel 71 or by regular broadcasts on VHF Ch 11.

7. The Swale – Ferry Reach - Sheppey Crossing Inspection Work - work to inspect the Sheppey Crossing bridge structure is due to commence 13th March 2023. The work, which is expected to be completed by 18th March 2023, will involve inspections of the underside of the bridge using of an underbridge access rig mounted on a lorry. The use of this access machine will mean that roped access scaffolding will not be required to reach and inspect the underside of the structure and enable work to be undertaken quickly, effectively with the least impact to the Swale Navigation and Sheppey Crossing users. All inspection works will be carried out during daytime, off peak working hours (09:00hrs -15:30hrs)
Bridge Access Machinery Safety Boat ‘Protector’ The safety boat ‘Protector’ will be stationed adjacent to the bridge at all times that work is underway, Protector will be in contact with the inspection team, the Kingsferry Bridge operator and will monitor VHF Channel 74 at all times. Commercial shipping movements will not be affected, however, ship’s transit times will be passed to the inspection team who will retract the machinery to allow vessels to pass safely. Further information may be obtained from Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74, call sign “Medway VTS” or telephone 0151 949 6148 or 0151 949 6650.

8. Port of King’s Lynn - Removal of Navigation Aid:- West Lynn Ferry Jetty Light - following a recent incident the QG Starboard hand light beacon situated on the West Lynn Ferry Jetty (52°45’.374 N 000° 23’.370E) has been removed today (24th February 2023) along with the upper section of the associated tide gauge. Mariners are advised to exercise caution when navigating in the vicinity of the jetty. A replacement light beacon will be established at the earliest opportunity.

9. River Nene - Buoy Move - the following buoy moved within the Nene Ports area of jurisdiction. The new position is: Buoy 'Bill' - RedCan - Fl(4)R.10s- N52,50.823, E000,12.661 (in the Wisbech Channel)

10. Burnham Fairway No 7 Lighted Buoy - in approximate position: 51° 37.239N, 000° 49.157E is unlit.

Please note that this Buoy will not be re-laid in its current position. Following a recent survey, the Raysand Marks are to be repositioned during the annual maintenance in the early Spring of 2023.

A Notice to Mariners will be promulgated at that time.

See my comment in the UKHO NtM about the Ray Sand. You can expect the new positions to be down close to the 1 degree meridian.

See my comment in the UKHO NtM about the Ray Sand. You can expect the new positions to be down close to the 1 degree meridian.
If you don't mind me asking, will the new buoyage be based on your own exceellent survey?
