UKHO Permanent/Preliminary/Temporary Notices
Another quiet week - probably because new editions of the two major Estuary charts were issued last week.
1. NORTH SEA - Netherlands Sector - Fairway. Buoyage. Depths - A temporary notice reporting reductions of depth in the Slijkgat – the channel to Stellendam, Holland. Depths are reported down to 2.7m in the marked channel and vessels should follow the mid fairway between the buoys.

River Thames - Sea Reach - Cathodic Protection Installation - Works at London Gateway Port - from the 24th March 2025,cathodic protection installation operations will take place on the eastern 50 metres of London Gateway berth 4. Cathodic protection works will involve divers from the quayside only. When diving is taking place, the following signals will be displayed in a prominent location on the quayside: By day, International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, ‘Alpha (A)’ and a red flag near the diver’s point of entry into the water
By night, illuminated rigid replicas of the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’ Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’sPort Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’. During these operations, vessels may only berth on the western 326-366m of berth 4 All vessels are required to maintain the following criteria/exclusion zones:
No divers will be in the water whilst vessels manoeuvring on or off Berth 3 or Berth 4.; 40m exclusion zone to be maintained between vessels moored on Berths 3 & 4.
All participating vessels will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 68 and will remain in direct contact with the London Gateway Harbour Master and shift managers. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and remain vigilant while navigating in the vicinity of London

2. Surveyed Depths – Harwich Harbour – Update 5 - the latest hydrographic surveys showing depths in Harwich Harbour. The controlling depth for deep draught vessels navigating within the harbour area should currently be taken as 15.4m below chart datum, plus height of tide. Significant depths below chart datum (not including inside berth boxes) are:
• 15.4m - spot soundings between the Babergh Buoy and Shotley Spit Buoy
• 15.0m - spot soundings between the Shotley Spit Buoy and Grisle Buoy
• 15.4m - spot soundings between the Grisle Buoy and North West Beach Buoy

3. Dredging and Survey Operations – Harwich Harbour & Felixstowe - dredging and survey operations are taking place as follows:
➢ Porthos (Callsign: MYVS5) - from or around 24 March 2025 will carry out survey operations in Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approximately five weeks.
➢ Shoalway (IMO: 9556337) - from or around 1 April 2025, will undertake trailing suction hopper dredging operations in Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approximately 3 weeks.
➢ MTS Valour (IMO: 9407299) - from or around 26 March 2025, will be undertaking plough dredging in Harwich Harbour and Felixstowe berths for approx. 4 weeks.
4. Dredging Operations – Sospan Dau - dredging operations are taking place as follows:
➢ Sospan Dau (IMO 7711062) - on or around 29 March 2025 – will be carrying out trailing suction hopper dredging around Harwich Haven and Port of Felixstowe for approx. 4 days, with material disposed to the beneficial sites in the River Stour and Orwell.
5. Harwich Haven - Seasonal Recreational Buoys
On or around 26 - 28 March 2025 the following seasonal recreational marks will be reinstated:

6. Dover Harbour - KSSA Winter Training - Kent Schools Sailing Association will host their winter training event in the Recreation area of the harbour on Saturday 29th March 2025, from 10:00 until 17:00. The event will consist of up to 40 sailing dinghies accompanied by 4 safety boats. The course will be contained within area marked by the boundary on the chartlet below and will operate from the Dover Sea Sports Centre. Mariners requiring access to and from the slipway are requested to navigate with caution whilst transiting through the event area. Swimmers and other Leisure Zone users should exercise extreme caution and be mindful of the boats navigating within the boundary of the event course.
7. London Array Offshore Wind Farm - Jack Up Operations MPI Adventure will be on site from 27/03/2025 to 09/04/2025 carrying out Main Component exchanges at various locations throughout the windfarm. Jack-Up Vessel MPI Adventure has a length of 136m, beam of 40m with a draft of 6m. Equipment will be periodically deployed and suspended from the vessel crane during jack up operations. A 500m radius restricted zone will be in place, centred on the MPI Adventure whilst pinned on location. If access is required to this zone for non-project vessel traffic, authorisation must be requested from the vessel master. The vessel will be supported by CTV’s Windcat 21, 29, 36 and Spectrum 2 as required during its time on site at London Array.
8. London Array Offshore Wind Farm - Aids To Navigation - The following navigational defects are in place as listed:
