4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Buoyage. - This notice is notifying the new positions of the NW and W Holm PHBs in the SCC chart 5614.3. These moves were first notified by Trinity House vide TH NtM 32 of 2022 in week 37
5. EAST COAST OF ENGLAND - Thames Estuary - Copperas Channel - Copperas Lighted Buoy - One very small move south of the Copperas SHB which marks the northern edge of the Copperas Channel off Reculver, North Coast of Kent. Recent TH survey.

RIVER THAMES - WOOLWICH REACH - ENVIRONMENT AGENCY - THAMES BARRIER CLOSURES - The Thames Flood Barrier will be closed once a month for test purposes, in accordance with a programme issued for a period of six months, commencing 01st November 2022. Listed below are the times between which the Thames Barrier will be closed to navigation for test purposes. During these periods’ navigation in the Thames Barrier Control Zone, between Margaretness and Blackwall Point, will be restricted and any movements in this area will require permission from London VTS.

2. Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project: Plough / Bed levelling Tug Operations: From around 7 October 2022, the Anchor Handling Tug Lev Twister (IMO: 8302088) will be carrying out plough / bed-levelling operations in areas B, C, D, E, F and G of the Deep Water Channel (See sketch in the above quoted we page in the Local List). The Lev Twister has been fitted with a stern A-Frame and a 20m wide heavy levelling beam which will be towed on the seabed immediately behind the tug.
The dredging contractor is the Van Oord / Boskalis Westminster Joint Venture appointed by Harwich Haven Authority to carry out the Harwich Haven Channel Deepening Project. For detailed information regarding the location of the dredging plant, please contact Harwich VTS (VHF 71) or listen to the daily Channel Deepening VHF broadcasts (VHF 11). Due to the nature of the rigging and towing arrangements, vessels should not come alongside the Lev Twister during bed-levelling operations
3. - SHEERNESS DOCKS – ROYAL BRIDGE - Diving Operations - diving operations are due to take place around the “Royal Bridge” pontoon in Sheerness Docks. Work to remove silt deposits under and around the pontoon are due to commence on or around the 10/10/2022 with an estimated completion date of 21/10/2022. Diving operations will be conducted from the Royal Bridge pontoon structure in the general areas marked below. The diving team, callsign “MACS Diving” will carry handheld VHF radios to monitor Channel 74 at all times. Medway VTS will be notified when divers enter and exit the water, daily diving operations are expected to be conducted between 07:00 and 17:00. All dive ops will cease during the berthing/unberthing of ships on adjacent berths, however, all vessels arriving/departing Sheerness berths should confirm the status of diving ops with Medway VTS prior to manoeuvring. All passing ships and leisure craft should navigate with caution and reduce their wash appropriately. Chartlet available in the above quoted web page in the Local List.
4. THE SWALE – FERRY REACH & KINGSFERRY BRIDGE - Traffic Restrictions For Filming - Network Rail have given permission for a production company to use the Kingsferry Bridge to shoot sequences for an upcoming film. The filming will take place over the weekend of 29th / 30th October 2022 and will involve road closures and periods of disruption to marine traffic. The filming has been planned to coincide with a day of scheduled maintenance on the Kingsferry Bridge (30th October). Arrangements for the two days of filming are as follows:
Saturday 29th October 2022 - Filming will be taking place on the bridge for the entire day, road closures have been requested from 04:00 – Midnight, trains will run as normal. Marine traffic can transit the bridge as normal although leisure craft may be asked to wait for short periods whilst specific scenes are being filmed.
Sunday 30th October 2022 - Filming will be taking place on Kingsferry Bridge, in Ferry reach and on the slipway at Long Reach Ski Club adjacent to the bridge. Road closures have been requested from Midnight – 22:00. It is envisaged that the bridge will remain in the raised position for the filming/maintenance period, no trains will operate for this period. Due to the nature of the filming the following restrictions will apply to marine traffic:
Commercial Shipping – Ship arrivals and departures will be programmed over the flood / HW period between 12:30 and 16:30
Leisure Vessels - No leisure craft will be able to transit Ferry Reach and the Kingsferry Bridge between 07:00 – 17:00.
Safety craft will be stationed either side of the bridge between 07:00 and 17:00 on Sunday, they will communicate with any craft attempting to transit who are not aware of the restrictions and regular broadcasts will be transmitted by Medway VTS on VHF Channel 74.

Nothing to report this week, however there was a reasonable size theft of Calor gas canisters from a supplier last week….
If you are thinking of laying up your boat for the winter soon, and you have gas canisters on board, consider whether your gas canister may be safer if you can take it home with you. With the increase in heating bills, boats and marinas could possibly be targeted as a “free” source of gas to some criminals…. Remember if you have it stolen, you have not only lost the gas inside, but also the deposit paid on the canister…
