UKHO and Trinity House Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices:
1. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Blocks. - This notice has four similar UKHO blocks for the Orford Haven, two for SN charts and 2 for SC Charts. All results from the Trinity House survey this year. At the UKHO scale, it does not include 'local buoyage' other than the SWB so refer to the East Coast Pilot for their chartlet.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - A preliminary notice advising of 5 reductions of depth in Holm Approaches to Lowestoft. The depths should not hinder leisure craft.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - This is a preliminary notice following the recent Civil Hydrology survey reporting reduced depths around the Gunfleet Sands, Sunk Sand and in the Kings Channel. These comprise 1. 4 reductions of depth, 3 adjacent to the Gunfleet Spit cardinal buoy and a fourth with ample water for use north of the cardinal buoy: 2. 2 reductions at the Sunk Head and a third close to the Middle Sunk: 3. A single reduction in the Kings Channel (or West Swin) with ample water for us. There had been a Notice earlier this year (NtM 1026) which advised four reduced depths on the Little Sunk following our survey so those are included in the image. UKHO plan to issue a new edition of SN chart 1975 early next year incorporating all the changes that have been reported this year. That SNC is the leading chart for electronic chartmakers to follow.
4. EAST COAST OF ENGLAND - APPROACHES TO LOWESTOFT - STANFORD CHANNEL - A Trinity House NtM advising that the buoyage in the Stanford Channel has had four significant moves involving the SW and S Holm buoys (SHB and SCB) and the Stanford and Newcombe Sand PHBs.

RIVER THAMES - Gravesend Reach - Health Pier Works - on or about Wednesday 18th September 2024 for a duration of approximately 4 days, works to remove the damaged sections of walkway from the Port Health Pier will be taking place. The works will involve barge HAVEN SEAFORTH during daylight hours only and will involve heavy lifting operations and personnel working at the waterline. The general location of the works is in the chartlet (see in the Local list at Notices to Mariners). During these works, any requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’sPort Information Guide, under ‘London VTS’, ‘Section 4’.

RIVER THAMES - Caution Required Regarding Vessels Turning About - To ensure safe navigation, mariners are kindly reminded of the importance of practicing good seamanship and exercising utmost caution when executing turns in the river. It is essential that vessels in the proximity of those performing turning manoeuvres also exhibit equal levels of caution and vigilance. 3. Woolwich Reach - Filming Operations and Traffic Freezes - On or about Tuesday 17th September 2024, filming operations will be conducted in the vicinity of Durham Wharf, indicated in red on the below chartlet. To support these operations a series of Traffic Freezes will
be established between the hours of 13:30 and 23:30. During these times, vessels will not be permitted to navigate between Atlas Barge Roads and the Woolwich Ferry Terminals. See the full instructions in the Local list.

Lower Hope Reach to Horse Reach - Fish Surveys - commencing on or about Tuesday 17th September 2024 the Environment Agency’s Fisheries and Biodiversity team will carry out fish surveys in various locations along the tidal Thames. Working from the foreshore, fisheries officers will deploy seine nets with the aid of vessel ROKER. Deployment will take place around the slack tide over the corresponding High or Low water detailed in a very long notices with chartlets. See the full notice for a download in the Local List.
5. River Stour - Water Injection Dredging Operations – Kathy Anne will be carrying out water injection dredging operations in the River Stour from 16 September 2024 for approx. 1 week.
6. THE SWALE – FERRY REACH - KINGSFERRY BRIDGE - CLOSURES - due to scheduled maintenance work, Kingsferry Bridge will be closed to all navigation during October/November 2024. Work to complete the replacement of wire lifting ropes is due to commence 11th October 2024 with completion expected by 3rd November 2024 and will be carried out as per the following schedule. During these periods the Kingsferry Bridge will not be able to lift for any marine traffic. The first closure is to facilitate inspections of the steelwork ahead of the planned 8 day closure in the Kent schools half term week. Any revisions to planned closure dates will be promulgated via an amendment to this notice. KFB Planned Closure Periods (No Bridge Lifts Available): 1930 - Friday 11 October through to 2359 - Saturday 12 October. 2200 - Friday 25 October through to 0500 - Sunday 3 November.

Approaches to Sheerness - SS Richard Montgomery Wreck – Hydrographic Survey Work - survey work is due to take place around the wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery, the SS Richard Montgomery is a designated dangerous wreck under section 2 of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973 and there is a no-entry exclusion zone around the wreck, the co-ordinates of which are published in Statutory Instrument 1973 No 1690. Section 3 of the Act makes entry into the prohibited area an offence without the written permission of the Secretary of State.
Survey work is due to commence on Monday 16th September 2024 (outside of the exclusion zone) with completion expected by 23rd September 2024. The survey vessel “Lode” will be conducting the survey and has been granted permission to enter the prohibited area for the purposes of carrying out a survey of the wreck and the immediate area of seabed surrounding the wreck. Permission to enter the prohibited area of the wreck is approved from 17th September 2024 and extends to 23rd September 2024. Whilst surveying, “Lode” will be restricted in it’s ability to manoeuvre and will maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch.74 at all times, all vessels are requested to pass with caution and reduce speed and wash appropriately.

Approaches to Sheerness – Grain Spit - Diving Operations - as part of the ongoing Neuconnect Interconnector project, a programme of cable laying operations is now underway on Grain Spit and across the Swatchway. In support of the cable laying work, diving operations will also be taking place commencing on or around Saturday 14th September 2024 with completion expected in approximately two weeks. Dive Ops will be taking place from the dive support vessel “Celtic Guardian” and/or a floating pontoon. All craft will maintain a listening watch on VHF Channel 74 whilst at the worksite, all vessels transiting the Swatchway to and from the Thames are requested to keep well clear, pass with extreme caution and reduce speed/wash appropriately.
9. Kingsferry Bridge and Rochester Rail Bridge - Diving Inspection Work - is due to take place at Rochester Rail Bridge and Kingsferry Bridge. Sub-surface inspections of the bridge structures and surrounding seabed will be carried out by Xeiad Diving with access via self-propelled modular pontoons which will display the relevant code signals for diving operations. Diving operations will take place as follows
Rochester Rail Bridge - 08:00 / 01.10.2024 – 16:00 / 02.10.2024 - Access via 6m x 2.5m self-propelled aluminium dive pontoon launched at Medway Bridge Marina – Dive team will monitor VHF Channel 74 at all times and will operate close to the bridge buttresses away from the main navigable channel.
Kingsferry Bridge – 08:00 – 16:00 03.10.2024 - Access via 4m x 4m self-propelled aluminium dive pontoon launched at Kingsferry Boat Club – Dive team will monitor VHF Channel 74 at all times and contact Medway VTS by mobile phone to obtain commercial vessel movement details. The dive team will leave the water and retreat clear of the centre span in the event of a commercial vessel transit.
All vessels passing the dive sites on respective dates should navigate with extreme caution, maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch.74, remain at a safe distance and reduce speed/wash accordingly.
10. Tug and Tow Orwell Bridge - a tug and tow will be operating around pier 9,10 and 15 under the Orwell Bridge. These works will be conducted from – Friday 13th September to Monday 23rd September 2024. Topjack barge will be pushed by the Tug Devout with a safety standby vessel Taska 1. The barge will jack up into position next to the pier legs of the Orwell Bridge. Vessels are therefore requested to pass this vessel slowly and cautiously. Mariners requiring further information should contact ONS on VHF CH 68.
