Nice one Tugboat, spot on... originally the longest non stop circumnavigation and 15000 miles on top just cos he didnt want press clamouring all over him.
ah Ken, you obviously appreciate beauty of form and a great designers lines, like a sculpture in grp, but alas, nope.
If you turn the pic upside down she looks like an animal born to the sea, a shark perhaps, not a clue, just love of the designers artform.. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
The second photo does look very much like an S & S design, but it is rather difficult to get an idea of scale.... I was going to say a 34, but Avalon beat me to it, so could she be War Baby, ex Tenacious?
A clue, the designer once worked at C & N, She was built to surpass llyods A1, one of the few where llyods certificates WERE given at purchase. The hull design dates from 1975 and was originally conceived as a racer of of its day. only a total of 37 (I believe) were ever built. You must confess it looks right as an ocean going yacht hull. Ballast ratio is apx 40%.
This is also probably extremely difficult due to the limited numbers made. stretched (well, basically enlarged plans based on the same design) models were produced well into the 90´s and command a very high price, the early ones, luckily, dont and are relatively affordable.
I walked past one yesterday, it was ashore in its cradle at Falmouth Marina, the other reminds me of an Alan Pape / John Sears Cuttyhunk 54 but I am not sure of the underwater profile.
Ah Mr tobyjug...
I know it was a little naughty, but you are absolutely correct, my pride and joy.. typical man eh ? fall in love with the bottom first lol
Nice one
