This is where the different users habits come in.
Many ( I hesitate to use most but would be prepared to stake my money on it) planning power boat users will have (1) the screen right in front of them and (2) have it on course up - especially on inshore passages with interesting features around. Because we have no interest in the wind direction we have no interest in the compass either. In fact we may not even be sure where we are going untill we suddenly get a call from Pete on the VHF to say thet barbies lit and the beers are cold in Lullworth . Double clicking (or whatever) on Lullworth , as you open up the throttles, the plotter tells you you will be there in 8 minutes 27secs so you tell him your eta , ask for a couple of steaks to be put on and set off down the nice bold line on the screen (but go round the green bits because your props don't like them).
