there's a button to turn on the hydraulic steering. Not sure why the button is there cos almost impossible to steer when it's off, so i always turn it on. But it's a bit loud. mmmmmmmmmmm like that all the time. Possibly a bit louder actually MMMMMMMMMMMMMM. You can sort of hear it even when the engines are on. Any idea how to make a hydraulic pump quieter?

I find that hitting it with a hammer usually does the trick. Is it going MMMMMMMMMM or RRRRRRRRRRRRR...????

Fit some some sound lagging. Make sure it fits right to the edges no gaps. There's a poster hereabouts who has done this quite a lot, to a couple of boats, forgotten his name, ah um...oops right then

Seriousment, what runs the pump (given that you can sw it off)? Is it 24v? 240v? Or PTO from an engine wiv switchable clutch? Just tryner work out the noise sources. Is that typical whine noise that (big) hydr pumps make, or a motor noise?

Need more info really, is it engine driven pump or stand alone separate if stand alone separate and its mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm like that then Noise may come from pump or from fluid passing through pipes and valvey bits, If the noise comes from the pump, is it solidly mounted maybe motor needs flexi insulated mounts, is the pipework from the pump all solid pipe, maybe needs flexi joints to stop transmission of mmmm noise, If you lag may do damage as hydraulic power generates heat that needs to get away.

it's 24v cos doesn't need genny or shorepower. Not enginedriven cos i can leave it on going MMMMMMMMMMM for a while after engine is stopped. I had a look at the levels, and seem okish.

Prap I need a special man to come down the engineroom and smash stuff with his toolbox, then explain to me how he is very very careful, very careful indeed, highest quality workmanship in the entire world etc ...
