No weekend on board for me

NO boat for me for the next few weeks so forgive me if I wish for crap weather!!.
SWMBO, has taken a nasty fall and broken her foot quite badly!!! And it was on our way OUT, not home that the accident happened!!!!! So it's school runs, cooking, cleaning, washing ,ironing, finishing jobs in the garden and around the house etc ,etc . Not sure what I am going to do with the afternoons though??? Can't see why these women make all the fuss!!What do they do ALL day???

Now ducking and hiding!

ah well this is your chance. You can either take the kids to the wrong school, make rubbish food and let the place go to the dogs so she feels really a vital part of the family OR make fabulous feasts, helpfully check all the kids homework and ensure the house is sparkling, to show her the standards you require.

There is only one option here. He has to make a pigs ear of everything he puts his hands to. Once swmbo's find out men can actually iron, vacuum, cook etc, it's all downhill! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: No weekend on board for me

i think you're right: smash the plates whilst washing up, manfully empty the hoover all over the place and burn some food. Then buy some flowers, i think?

Exactly! Along with little speech about how he didn't realise how difficult it was to juggle all this stuff, and he'll be so much more appreciative in future?

Sounds like you're gonna be fine - make sure it's her most treasured sexy underwear that go pink though, not just one of kids t-shirts

Needs must and all that... for the greater good. It's either that or an eternity of washing and hoovering

Re: somehow...

i feel that brandan is speaking from bitter, bitter experience? The key is to outlast them on the pizza for tea, and wear the same clothes for weeks and weeks on end. Then puttem in the dishwasher and argue that it's about the same, whcioh i think it probably is, really.

Re: No weekend on board for me

Sorry to hear about your problems and your wife's foot, but what stops her from doing the household chores? If you put a swivel chair in the kitchen, one with casters on it, she can still get around to wash up, cook, load the washing machine ironing should be ok as most ironing boards are fully adjustable and she will be able to complete this task sitting down. Driving can be more of a problem, unless you have got an automatic.
I used to enjoy taking my lad to school, all those young moms with nothing to do all day make interesting conversationalists, who knows they might even get sympathetic and ask you back for a coffee.
All the best and I hope she gets better soon.

I have this strange desire to carry on living!!!
The nature of the injury is such that she must keep her foot well elevated for at least 10 days!! so she really is laid up!!!

Re: New age man

You blimmin nerk! You're letting the side down. Just buy new shirts, as emergency. Same for ovens. Once every couple of months, chuck your dinner in the bin to keep standards up. To help out, you might occassionally attempt to oput plates in the dishwasher - but wander uselessly around trying to find the thing. I made tea once, and cooked a beano-style slap-up feed namely huge ton of mashed potatoes and large qty of sausages sticking out. I fancy attempting to make cow pie ocupying the entire front room. THIS is the sort of stuff you should be doing, surely?

Re: No weekend on board for me

I'm with Brendan on this one. Whatever you do and whatever happens dont do anything too well or you will be doing it forever. I tried to iron a tee shirt the other day and had more creases in it when I finished, much to the amusement of my 11.5 yr old daughter. And I wasnt even trying to cock up so just think how easy it will be if you try to do it wrong.
