Hello to you all.I remember seeing an item regarding what looked like the bulbous nose on a cross channel ferry but this item was fixed to the front of a narrow boat.Iwould like to know if anybody has information on this and if it worked.Best regards.Tony
 
It does need to be designed for the boat to get the best effect, and it is really designed for boats approaching the top of hull speed where it helps reduce fuel consumption, so would not think it would be of great use on a canal barge.
There is a fair bit of info on "bulbous bows" if you do a google.
 
Prout offered bulb bows as an option on their cats. Several tris
including my own tried them on the floats, after they were developed
by Crowther, although they seem to have gone out of fashion now.
Really only an option on fine multi bows I think.
 
Here is a picture of a Prout with them. Apparently they made suficient difference to characteristics on this boat, that they were recommended, but its the only one I know that fitted them.

I know of one Catalac 9m with them, but am not sure they are in the correct spot.
