Question around trim tilt operation. The wiring appears to be modified and the 3 button control removed no replaced with just 2 push buttons. Some wiring alteration at the relays in engine bay. Is this normal or has some changes been made? Does this drive have tilt and beach function. TIA

On the standard Volvo buttons you can trim and Beach the drive which would show on your trim display.
A few years ago when my drive wouldn't tilt up to beach mode at first I thought it was the relays but after a bit of fiddling about it was the button controller (this being standard)

You mention you only have 2 buttons - on the standard layout you have up / down and the red button - when tilting up the drive may only go up to position 6 and will not travel any further to avoid damaging the drive whilst the engine is running (angle of the Universal joint in the drive)

when you want to go beyond position 6 you have to press the red button and the up button together to put the drive into beach mode which would take it up to position 39/40

I would suggest taking a good look at the controls / wiring you have at the helm and see what's been tampered with at the relays in the engine bay - it would sound like the previous owner has tried to wire the "red" button function to the up to save having to press 2 buttons at once - the problem there is you could accidentally put the drive in beach mode (bear in mind the button could stick as well) and damage the drive whilst the engine is running and your sailing the boat - and it is an expensive fix for a new drive.
