I would like to gather info. from analogue instruments (such as NASA's;- cheap and British) and convert to NMEA0183 for feeding into a plotter. Silva produce hardware I think they call a "server" but is proprietary to their sensors.
Anybody able to help?

It's a little more complex than you might imagine. The analogue signal has to be digitised and scaled and has almost invariably a non-linear response. Once it is digitised it then has to be output in an NMEA sentence together with a checksum.

It's not impossible - I've done it with pressure etc using a PIC micro, but only so far using linear transducers. It would be difficult to make a universal solution, and the cost would probably outweigh the cost of buying NMEA instruments. The manufactured cost of my board was around £150 without any enclosure.
