Nimbus group gone bust

Not so unusual.

"Considering where they are built, must be massive transport costs to export them. Not checked, but may be well over fifty miles overland prior to reach a dock for shipping. Then yet more transport to the dealer handling sale."

Not so unusual. Think Sealine, Fairline and Pearl, to name but 3 of the UK mfrs.

Actually Mariestad where they are built is on L. Vanern which I believe is connected to the sea at Goteborg by the Gota Canal. Perhaps they can use that instead of trucking the finished boats.

Rumours in today's local newspaper (I live in Gothenburg where Nimbus HQ is) are that Bella Boats are interested in buying Nimbus. They would then move production of smaller brands Ryds and Paragon to Finland whereas Nimbus production would stay in Sweden.

An earlier poster said Nimbus boats were mostly used on lakes etc but I would disagree to that. They are very popular here in Gothenburg (where the sea very quickly turns into open waters) and also in Stockholm on the eastcoast.
