Does anyone know the story of the gypsies who seem to be permanently anchored at the top of Newtown creek, talk about two very different ways of life. Glamour alongside squalor.

Back in late May it was one person on 2 scruffy boats tied together. How he got them there and where from I don't think even the HM knew.

Saw him sailing a scow with a mix of sails and also seemed to be repairing a bike on one of his boats. Said hello to him one time as he sailed past and his pleasant reply made him sound well educated. That plus some podcast I heard him listening to one day, possibly from BBC radio 3 or 4.
Be interesting as to why he has dropped out of the main stream and chosen that lifestyle.

My main concern is that Newtown might fill up with more like him as it is the only 'free' place that is sheltered from all wind directions in the Solent. All the other sheltered places have HM's with 'power'.
