Early I know but am considering New Years eve on the boat with SWMBO, 16 year old son and possibly another of our children. Any recommendations arouund the solent area???

I suspect the Folly will be quite lively? If it's not, you can walk to Newport for a traditional New Year's Eve fight.....

Possibly Gunwharf Quays? Bound to be something going on there, I'd have thought. No doubt loads going on in Southampton but probably round the Town Quay area rather than Ocean Village/Shamrock Quay, and I don't think Town Quay do visitors.

Otherwise Cowes as already suggested. Lymington is not recommended as it is full of elderly forumites who will lean out of their windows after 10.00 pm, yelling "Be quiet! We're trying to get some sleep"! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Folly is usually tickets in advance, as is anywhere half decent in Newport - sorry just had a thought, can't think of anywhere half decent left in Newport! Cowes is still possible for a walk around as long as you are prepared to negotiate the "doormen" outside of the pubs.
