I am pleased to report an undoubted increase in quality and range at this year's boat show, much greater consistency, higher quality and better prices, proving that the british manufacturers have finally got their act together. I haven't had a thorough comparison of one against another, so this year I made sure of a proper head-to head, got in the queue and waited for my turn, results as follows:
1. Joe's All Day. (before the last bridge) serves a very nice burger with onions at no extra charge. £2.60 and nice crispy onions, not too slimy.
2. The Van ( near the Moody stand) also £2.60 and a bit larger burger I think. The freebie ketchup bottles were in very nice condition instead of all gunked up, so I had some, but then it dribbled out a bit and on to my shirt.
3. Un-named (just outside the entrance hall on the way towards the first bridge) Not recommended, with rather dried-out burgers and no faux-butter on the rolls, also onions were extra, total £2,70, but nice pleasant old girly whereas the others were nondescript and possibly less experienced grease-monkeys.
So, all in all, I would go for the van near the Moody stand, but specify an optional extra napkin, especially upwind.
