Hello All,

New to the forum and finally looking at purchasing our 1st boat. Hope to be an active member.

Looking far and wide and have seen a Princess 38, looks above good condition and certainly maintained very well all round.

Anyone have experience and/or advice on these 38's?

Should be viewing very soon so any hidden spots to look at, test etc.

Many thanks all

Ben

Twin mermaids 180hp, shaft driven, 3 blade bronze propellers.

Both engines are clean as a whistle, with various work, rebuilds completed last 2 ish years.

Try a pm to MJF. He has, or at least had a P38. Kept her at Swanwick

If it has twin Mermaids then we can assume it's one of the original Princess 38s from the early eighties. Generally a pretty solid and straight forward boat, however at that age it's going to be all about how it has been looked after. It will very likely have, or have had and been treated for, osmosis.

You should definitely get a survey, and a seperate engine inspection would be wise.

Bear in mind that any boat of that age, you're going to need to be pretty hands on with the maintenance (or prepared to pay for someone to be).
